President Masisi of Botswana Appoints Hon. Kereng Envoy to Nigeria

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Botswana in a recent press release announced that His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, has appointed Ms. Philda Nani Kereng, High Commissioner of the Republic of Botswana to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Prior to this appointment, High Commissioner-Designate Kereng, served as the Minister of Environment and Tourism, where her exemplary leadership in transforming Botswana’s tourism industry was marked by initiatives that expanded citizen involvement, diversified tourism services and reinforced Botswana’s status as a regional leader in tourism and investment.
Ms. Kereng brings a wealth of experience to the Botswana Foreign Service, which includes her contributions in advancing rural, industrial, and community development, as evidenced by her sociological research, as well as, partnership with organisations like the US African Development Foundation, the ministry stated.
Minister Nani Kereng holds a Master of Arts Degree in sociology of development from the University of Essex and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Public Administration from the University of Botswana.
She is also a recipient of the 2021 Leadership Excellence Award from the African Tourism Board and the 2023 Destination Africa lifetime award which recognised her notable contributions in positioning Botswana as a MICE and key tourist destination.
