NATOP team Meets NTDA Boss after FTAN AGM in Abuja
Post Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators’ President, Hajia Bolaji Mustapha and her executives held a strategic meeting at the office of the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority, Chief Folorunsho Coker in Abuja who showered encomium on the new NATOP team present at the meeting, urging them to work as a team in order to move the association forward.
This was made known in a press release made available by the Secretary General of the association, Otunba Michael Balogun where certain key discussion points were highlighted:
Collaboration Opportunities:
Hajia Bolaji Mustapha discussed the potential for collaboration between NATOP and NTDA. She emphasized the need for a unified approach to promote Nigerian tourism both domestically and internationally.
Partnerships with Government Agencies:
The discussion also covered the importance of working closely with other government agencies to streamline efforts and resources. Hajia Bolaji highlighted areas such as infrastructure, and marketing as critical points for inter-agency cooperation.
Capacity Building and Training:
Both parties agreed on the necessity of enhancing the skills and competencies of tour operators through regular training programs. This initiative aims to ensure high standards of service and professionalism within the industry.
Promotion of Domestic Tourism:
Strategies to boost domestic tourism were explored, including the development of tour packages that highlight Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
The DG reiterated his position to support NATOP and collaborate in all capacity, creating a win-win situation for both his agency and NATOP.
The FTAN AGM and subsequent meetings with the NTDA and other governmental parastatals marked a significant step forward in the association’s quest to elevate Nigeria’s tourism sector.
With the new leadership of NATOP under Hajia Bolaji Mustapha, there is a renewed sense of optimism and determination to harnessing the full potential of tourism for the nation’s socio-economic growth.
