Lagos Tourism Stakeholders on a Tour of the State in Readiness for Domestic and International Tourists Arrivals

Tourism stakeholders in destination Lagos State, Nigeria are currently on a fam tour of the city as it prepares to welcome both domestic and international tourists to the “state of aquatic splendour”

The tour is expected to cover all the main divisions of the State code named “IBILE” with the sole aim of showcasing the tourism potential inherent within the coastal part of Nigeria and the former capital.

Leading the tour is the amiable Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lagos State who is being joined by the Lagos State House of Assembly Committe on Tourism, Arts and Culture as well as the Special Advisers to the Governor of Lagos State on Tourism and other tourism stalwarts, media personalities ,and other stakeholders within the country.

The 3 day tour which started from Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State will cover, Ikorodu, Badagry, Lagos Island and Epe where they hope to have direct interaction with the locals to ascertain the level at which the sector impacts on themand to also ensure sustainable tourism is upheld, as being advocated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, (UNWTO) thereby working towards achieving UN Development Goals in the tourism sector.

Present at today’s tour were ;The Commisoner of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Lagos State, Pharm (Mrs) Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf in the midst of ministry officials, members of Lagos State House of Assembly and some key tourism Stakeholders.

Others were ; Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) reprented by Mr Kolade, Organizer, Akwaaba African Travel Market, Ambassador Ikechi Uko, Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Hon. Solomon Bunu, Lagos Coordinator, FTAN, Mrs ime Udoh, National President, Nigerian Hotel Catering Institute (NHCI), Alhaji Gbenga Sunmonu among others.

The State recently launched a tourism masterplan through which it hopes to reposition tourism practice iin the State and serving as a yard stick for other States within the country to emulate.

Destination Lagos has been a vibrant tourism State, setting the pace for a robust tourism practice in the recent time .
