FTAN President Commiserates with Gov. Bassey Otu of Cross River State on the Passing of his Tourism Commissioner
ABUJA–
President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Mr. Nkereuwem Onung has expressed deep condolences to Governor Bassey Otu, the people of Cross River State, and the tourism community over the death of Mr. Abubakar Robert Ewa, the state’s Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture.
Mr. Ewa, aged 61, passed away yesterday evening at Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar, where he had reportedly checked himself in for treatment of an undisclosed ailment.
“Mr. Ewa was a pillar of tourism excellence in Cross River State. His contributions to the growth of the sector and his unwavering dedication to public service will always be remembered. His loss is not just for Cross River but for Nigeria’s tourism space as a whole”, Onung said.
Condolences of shock and dismay are being poured out from Executive Council members. colleagues, friends, Cross Riverians and tourism communities across the country to console his bereaved family.
Mr. Ewa’s distinguished career included serving as Secretary and Chairman of Boki Local Government Council, Special Adviser on Community Relations, and Secretary of the Anti-Deforestation Task Force in the state. His legacy reflects his tireless commitment to community development, environmental preservation and tourism advancement.
Mr. Onung further urged the tourism community to honor Ewa’s memory by continuing to build on his vision of not only advancing tourism in Cross River State, but beyond.
