Benin Republic Showcases Tourism Potential at a One Day Conference in Cotonou

The government of President Patrice Talon is unwavering at showcasing the tourism potential of his country, Benin Republic, this was clear cut determine on display at a one day conference tagged “Meeting with the world economy- Benin Tourism Destination : From the vision to the reality” which took place yesterday at the Palais Des Congres, Cotonou.
The event was organised by the Agence Beninoise Pour Le Developpement Du Tourisme and had in attendance both government and private sector tourism stakeholders in Benin Republic where speeches, presentations, intervention and questions and answers session formed part of the all engaging event.
Giving the opening remarks was the Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Hon. Babalola Jean-Michel Abimbola; who spoke passionately about the activities of his Ministry and the government towards making Benin truly a tourism destination in all spheres.
Also giving some goodwill message was the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. Modest Kerekou who appreciated the tourism sector’s effort at complimenting his own Ministry in order to help small businesses to thrive.

Very powerful presentations were also made by the DGs of major government establishments that are in tandem with the spirit of developing the tourism of Benin Republic:
The first presentation was on the topic: “New Tourism Development Strategies and Review of Major Structuring Projects in the Sector – Structuring of Public Tourism Operators” by the DG of Benin Tourism /ANPT/ADAC/ DDT MTCA
The second one was “Urban Development Programme and Framework of View, Promoting the Development of Tourism in Benin by the DGs of SImAU & SIRAT.
The third presentation at the event was “Specific Measures to Support Projects in the Tourism Sector” which was made by the DG of APIEX
And the fourth and last was “Examples of Sectors in Need of lnvestment by the DG Benin Tourism.
During the course of the conference, a film documentary titled “Tourism Destination Benin, from the Vision to the Reality”, which truly displayed the beauties of every part of the enchanting Benin Republic which gas so much attractions for the world to see.
The documentary was followed by an an intervention from the President CCI Benin who also expressed his delight at and the convergence.
In attendance were many tourism personalities both from government and the private sector, among who was the President of Consortium Touristes Par Millions Au Benin, Mr. Dine Bouraima who also represented the President of African Tourism Board, Hon Cuthbert Ncube, as his Vice President at the event.
Bouraima expressed his country’s preparedness to welcome the world with all the infrastructures that are being put up in every part of the country.
He further extended his appreciation to President Patrice Talon for his decision to waive visas for the Chinese nationals, seeing it as a way to create a greater tourism business which would create more forex earning for the country and also trickling down across the value chain to the tourism eco-system in the country.
