The workshop, a key event for African tourism leaders, focused on developing sustainable HRM strategies to empower the tourism workforce and foster resilience across the sector.

In his address, Hon. Ncube emphasized the critical role that human resources play in driving the success of Africa’s tourism sector. “Our continent is renowned for its diverse landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant communities. However, it is the dedicated professionals working diligently behind the scenes who truly bring our tourism sector to life,” he remarked.

He further highlighted the importance of creating a supportive environment where talent can flourish, noting that the well-being and resilience of tourism professionals should be a shared priority. “As leaders, it is incumbent upon us to create an environment where their talents can flourish, their well-being takes precedence, and their resilience becomes our shared pillar of strength.”

The workshop explored various aspects of sustainable HRM, including talent acquisition, employee retention, development, and well-being. It also provided participants with insights into how sustainable practices can drive inclusivity and positive transformation within the tourism industry. Hon. Ncube urged attendees to actively participate, share their perspectives, and collaborate in devising innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of African tourism boards.

“Let us bear in mind that the vitality of our tourism sector lies not solely in the allure of our destinations but in the individuals who work tirelessly to ensure every visitor’s experience is memorable,” Ncube stated, encouraging a focus on the workforce behind Africa’s tourism success.

The event was marked by expert-led sessions and practical discussions aimed at equipping participants with valuable tools to strengthen their HRM practices. Hon. Ncube also emphasized the importance of networking, saying, “These networking moments are as pivotal as the knowledge we acquire, as they fortify our community and establish a support network that extends beyond the workshop.”

In closing, Ncube expressed optimism about the future of African tourism, urging participants to remain committed to sustainable and resilient HRM practices. “The future of African tourism is promising, and with our combined efforts, we can ensure its enduring brilliance for generations to come.”

The workshop not only offered a platform for learning but also reinforced the importance of collective efforts in building a resilient tourism sector across Africa. Hon. Ncube’s message of optimism and collaboration resonated with the participants, setting the tone for a stronger, more sustainable future for African tourism.
