ATB, ACTDF Meet Zanzibar’s Super Minister, Hon. Mudrik Soraga, Discuss Investment Opportunities on the Islands
Rounding up their working trip to the Islands of Zanzibar, African Tourism Board and African Children Talent Discovery Foundation delegations met with Hon. Mudrik Ramadhan Soraga, the Minister of State, President’s Office, Labour, Economy and Investment.
The Zanzibar’s Super Minister invited and received the delegation at his office on Thursday where formal business meeting that bothered on investment, empowerment, education, tourism and general advancement of the beautiful Islands of Zanzibar were brought up.
Hon. Sogara expatiated on His Excellency Dr. Hussein Mwinyin, President of Zanzibar’s willingness to creating more avenues through which investors from all over the world would find interest in the Islands’ areas of investment opportunities, an initiative that is poised to usher in a great deal of mutual benefits, looking at the incentives attached to it and also assured of returns on investment within specific period.
“We have a very broad mandate in terms of what we are doing and we have two specific areas which are economy and investment. In the area of economy, we are planning to establish incubation centres and training centers for women and youths in the poor communities where they don’t have access to formal education, so that we can have special programmes to assist them”, he said.
The Minister further gave the assurance that their government would give all the necessary information and general guidelines that would aid and fast track the process of investing in the areas of education, real estate, convention centres, harbour, airport and general tourism investment.
Reacting, Engr. Dr. Noah Dallaji, Founder and President of African Children Talent Discovery Foundation expressed his personal gratitude on behalf of the team for the invitation and also expatiated on the mission and vision of his organization which mandate is to support children, youths and women across Africa, using sports as one of the avenues to connect the target group and awarding scholarships to the indigent children and youths.
The organization started in Addis Ababa’s suburb in Ethiopia, collaborating with Nigeria’s ex- NBA Star, Olumide who trained Ethiopian youths at a basketball clinic where the best among them were awarded scholarships to study in different universities across the world.
Dr. Noah Dallaji also gave an assurance that Zanzibar Islands would witness future investment opportunities from his partners whom he would brief to avail them about the opportunities prevalent in Zanzibar Islands.
He thanked the Minister and the government for opening up the region for investment which he believes ordinary citizens of Zanzibar would benefit from immensely.
Dr. Dallaji had earlier on awarded a scholarship to the Tourism Wizkid, Sharon Ringo to study up to university level at the prestigious Harvard University, USA.
His organisation has earmarked 20 schorlaships for the indigent children and youths in Tanzania which will be awarded through the relevant governmental parastatals.
Also reacting, the Chairman, African Tourism Board, Hon. Cuthbert Ncube displayed his amusement at the pro-activeness of the govenment of Zanzibar especially in the areas of opening the country up for investment which he described as “the best thing happening to the Islands”..
He however assured the Minister of his cooperation and collaboration of African Tourism Board in a very strong alliance with ACTDF to synergising and developing the best of strategies that would help to launch the continent to the optimum and also aid the process of achieving the AU 2063 developmental agenda in order to meet up with the UN Goals for global acceleration.
ATB Chairman further noted that the schorlaship scheme would be presented across the continent where many of the indigent children and youths would benefit once they meet up with the basic requirements as laid out by ACTDF.
On Tourism collaboration, Ncube hinted that an initiative is in the pipeline that would change the narrative of tourism in Africa of which the first edition will take place in Zanzibar this year.
