Addis Ababa University to Start Teaching Swahili as a Course of Study
Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia will start teaching Kiswahili, Africa’s most spoken language with 140 million speakers worldwide.
Kiswahili is spoken in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, DR Congo, Comoros, Rwanda, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and Burundi.
It is taught in universities in USA, The Netherlands, Canada, Italy and Germany and It’s part of South Africa’s curriculum.
Botswana also announced plans to teach Kiswahili in schools.
