The “Walk For Love Africa” project is an advocacy campaign aimed at creating awareness about the challenges being experienced by the tourism sector following the emergence of Covid-19 pandemic and other issues bothering the sector.

The founder of the project, Mr. Toni Ukachukwu, who is so passionate about Africa’s advancement and displays much enthusiasm about the betterment of the

tourism and the related sectors, has this to say about the raison d’etre of the project.

We are in the pandemic era and as a key stakeholder in the tourism and travel sector in Africa, it beholds on me to proffer innovative solutions in the sector. So the Walk For Love Africa initiative came to me when I while I was doing my usual Saturday morning run and I decided to work on it by putting calls across to my creative team for us to have a visual representation of what it’s all about and that’s how we got here.”

“The WFLA campaign will kick off with a two kilometers leisure walk on the 12th of February, 2022 with the theme ‘Connect Africa’ to see stakeholders in the tourism and travel value chain in Africa participate across the participating countries. We have over 13 African countries who will be participating and even more cities across some countries in Africa. Afterwards, post 12th February, 2022, we have a line up of activities that we will use to continue the project and advocate for the campaign across different platforms in different events across Africa”, Toni expatiated.

The participating countries in the “Walk for Love Africa” project are: Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Bostwana, Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Cameroon, Namibia, Benin Republic while more people from different parts of Africa and beyond will join virtually.

Some of the prominent African VIPs that have indicated their support for the initiative are: the Executive Chairman of African Tourism Board, Hon. Cuthbert Ncube; Secretary General, African Airlines Association, Mr. Abdérahmane Berthe; Ms.Tes Proos, President SITE Africa; Mr. Ademola Sanya, President, SKAL International, Lagos; Hon. Philda Nani Kereng, Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, Botswana among others.

The project’s vision is to “close the gaps in the travel and tourism value chain through a pan-African project to create socio-economic development” while the vision aims to “foster unity and solidarity by engaging the potential of the domestic African tourism market“.

Another fascinating attraction to watch out for during the event would be Vicky Sampson’s new song titled “Song of Love” slated for release on the same day and dedicated to the project.
